Privacy Policy
Your personal data and privacy are extremely important to SmartUnit. This policy is not just a legal shield to bring us into line with regulations such as the General Data Protection Regulation (hereinafter: GDPR). No, this text tells our data story. It explains what personal data we process and how we treat and protect it with care.
With this policy, we want to keep you fully informed about our data policy. This allows you to make a well-considered and informed choice about whether to use our services. We therefore assume that when you use our services, you agree to the way we process data and our policy.
Oh, one more thing. We have done our best to keep this policy as concise and clear as possible. After all, we are convinced that obligations do not have to be boring.

The GDPR also designates us as the controller. In short, this means that we decide what data is collected, how and by what means this will be done, but also why we do all of this.
2. Who will help us?
Processors, a significant GDPR term. Who assists us, under our responsibility, in processing your personal data? Rest assured, all our processors have personally or generally agreed to comply with the GDPR and, therefore, our policy. Here is a brief overview.

Naast al deze verwerkers gebruiken we nog enkele plugins die soms ook data verwerken. Wees gerust, net zoals bij onze verwerkers gebruiken wij enkel plugins die uitdrukkelijk in regel zijn met de GDPR. Een opsomming: Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel.
What data do we actually collect?

2. Why do we collect this data?
Of course, we don’t do this without reason. The purpose of collecting your data is to provide you with the best possible experience on our website. But what does that actually mean?
- We ensure that the experience on our website is as safe as possible. That is why we use the data to monitor our website so that everything runs smoothly. In this way, we also try to prevent fraud and other malicious intentions.
- We also like to keep you informed about our products and services. That is why we occasionally send you an email. Sometimes it is a promotion, other times it is just some news. Some people refer to this as direct marketing, but there is no need to worry! The emails always contain a link to remove yourself from our database.
- Google Analytics collects data for us so that we can gain insights into the audience that visits our website. This is called statistical data collection. IP addresses, which pages were visited, the geographical location of the visitor, and the time of the visit are processed.
- Facebook Pixel collects data for us so that we can organize our marketing efforts effectively. This allows us to show the right message to the right people on Facebook without ever knowing your account details. Pretty cool, right? The fewer parties that process data, the less chance there is of it being lost.
What can you do? What are your rights?
1. Right of access
Your data remains yours, of course. You can therefore ask us at any time to access the data we have collected about you and how, why, and for how long we have processed it. All this in the broadest sense. You will know exactly how we assess your data and what happens to it. Send your request for access to info@smartunit.be and we will send you everything we have within one month of your request.
2. Right to rectification and erasure of personal data
You can always have your data corrected or deleted. This may be necessary, for example, if you move house or create a new email address. WEBSITE: If you want to have your data deleted or changed, you can send your request to info@smartunit.be.
Unfortunately, some data cannot simply be deleted. This refers to data that we are required to retain on the basis of a legal obligation (e.g., accounting) or on the basis of an agreement (e.g., we still have to deliver your package).
Of course, any data that may have been processed unlawfully will be deleted as soon as possible. Any other requests will be complied with without unreasonable delay.
3. Right to restriction of or objection to data processing
If you have submitted a request for deletion, we will check the data for accuracy, whether the data has been processed unlawfully, or whether the data is necessary for legal proceedings. You can request a restriction on processing. Please send this request to info@smartunit.be and we will restrict processing within one month.
If you do not want us to process your data, please submit your objection to info@smartunit.be and we will stop processing your data as soon as possible (within one month of the request). Exceptions to this are, again, data that we are required to retain on the basis of a legal obligation (e.g., accounting) or on the basis of an agreement (e.g., we still have to deliver your package).
4. Right to data portability
You have the right to obtain the data you have provided to us in a structured, commonly used, and machine-readable format. This allows you to transfer the data to another controller.
5. Right to withdraw consent
Your consent can be withdrawn at any time. Of course, this only affects the data we have obtained on the sole basis of your consent. The data we obtain or are required to retain on the basis of a legal obligation (e.g., accounting) or on the basis of an agreement (e.g., we still have to deliver your package) is therefore excluded from this.
6. Complaints
Complaints about how we process your data should be reported to the Belgian Commission for the Protection of Privacy (https://www.privacycommission.be/nl).
